2026 Big Science Competition Giveaway Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility and Entry Conditions

1.1 The 2026 Big Science Competition Giveaway is open to eligible Australian high schools, and registered home schools, distance education or tuition facilities, and their Australian Year 7 to 10 high school, registered home school, distance education or tuition facility students.

1.2 Eligible participants in the 2026 Big Science Competition (“2026 BSC”) will be automatically entered into one of the prize draws listed below, to win one of eight prizes. Winners will be randomly selected.

1.3 An eligible participant is defined as an Australian school, registered home school, distance education or tuition facility for Prize Draw 1, and as a Australian Year 7 to 10 student for Prize Draw 2.

1.4 Participants must complete the Big Science Competition in accordance with BSC Terms and Conditions to be automatically entered into the Giveaway. Australian Science Innovations may, at its discretion, refuse to award any prize to any school or student who fails to comply with the Big Science Competition Conditions of Entry.

1.5 Eligible entries are entered into the Giveaway at no extra cost.

1.6 Duplicate registrations for the same participant are not permitted and will not increase the chances of winning a prize.

1.7 Once a participant has been randomly selected as a winner, they will be excluded from any subsequent prize draws.

1.8 The decision of Australian Science Innovations in relation to any aspect of the Competition will be final, and will be binding on every person who enters the Competition. No correspondence will be entered into.

1.9 If there is an event which prevents or hinders Australian Science Innovations conduct of the Competition, or Australian Science Innovations ability to deliver the prize to the Prize Winner, then the Australian Science Innovations may, in its discretion, cancel the Competition subject to State Regulation or select other Prize Winners. Further, Australian Science Innovations may at its sole discretion recommence it under the same conditions.

1.10 Current employees, Board Members, and volunteers of Australian Science Innovations, and their families, are not eligible to enter the Competition.

2. Prize Draw 1 – Australian Schools

2.1 An Australian school will receive one entry for each distinct year level registered that completes the 2026 Big Science Competition, up to a maximum of four (4) entries.

2.2 Regional, Remote and <=1000 ICSEA Australian schools will be given an additional entry into Prize Draw 1, bringing the total maximum entries to 5 (five) for eligible schools.

2.3 Eligibility for the additional entry for Regional, Remote and <=1000 ICSEA Australian schools will be selected from data published by ACARA on the https://myschool.edu.au/ website as of Monday, 15th June 2026 and will be based on the following criteria:

      • School location: regional/inner regional/outer regional/remote/very remote/outer remote, or
      • School ICSEA <= 1000

2.4 Total value of all prizes in the Prize Draw 1 pool is $2,000.00. The prizes are listed below:

Prize Draw 1 – Australian Schools: Australian Schools receive one entry into the draw for every year level they register that completes the 2026 BSC. Maximum entries per school  = 4. Regional, remote and <=1000 ICSEA schools will be given an additional entry into our school prize draw.

3. Prize Draw 2 – Australian Students

3.1 Australian students receive one entry into the draw for completing the 2026 Big Science Competition.

3.2 Total value of all prizes in the Prize Draw 2 pool is $1,000.00. The prizes are listed below:

Prize Draw 2 – Australian Students: Australian students receive one entry into the draw for completing the 2026 BSC.

Maximum entries per student = 1

First four drawn EFTPOS Voucher in the value of $250.00 (four to give away)
 Total Prize Pool $1,000.00

4. Prize Draw Details

4.1 The prize draw will take place at Australian Science Innovations Oliphant Building at The Australian National University on Monday 15th June 2026, using a physical draw.

4.2 All Prizes cannot be transferred, exchanged or redeemed in cash. The value of each prize as stated in these Terms and Conditions is stated in good faith.

4.3 All Prize winners will be notified by telephone, mail or email on Monday 15th June 2026 or otherwise as soon as reasonably possible following the Australian Science Innovations determining of the prize winners. Winners will be published on asi.edu.au

4.4 Australian Science Innovations will make all effort to contact and follow-up with prize winners, but if the winner does not make return contact to claim their Prize within 30 days, the prize shall be deemed unclaimed.

4.5 In the event of any unclaimed Prizes, a redraw will take place at Oliphant Building, The Australian National University on 4 September 2026.

4.6 Prizes are subject to availability. Prizes delivered directly from the supplier may be subject to shipping constraints. We reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.

5. Privacy

5.1 Australian Science Innovations may use personal information provided by participants for the purposes of administering the Giveaway and as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy.
